Pastoral Support
Strong pastoral support is an important element of our nurturing policy, and our staff teams will provide close pastoral support to their pupils, throughout the day, in whatever way is appropriate.
We also try to establish and maintain close liaison and communication with pupils’ Parents / Carers. We will contact each Parent / Carer at the end of every school day, to tell them how the day has gone. The closer our teamwork with Parents / Carers, the better we can support our pupils.
We will also actively engage with external agencies such as Social Workers, CAMHS professionals, other professionals and other members of the Team around the Child; and with the Police and Youth Offending Teams, where appropriate.
"Hey … thanks for always being there for me. You really helped me when I was at my lowest, and depressed. I only met you this year … but wish I knew you ages ago."
Pupil, Maypole School (Pathways to Employment), Dec 2025
"The school's work to support pupils' personal development is already a great strength. … massive inroads have already been made in improving pupils' attitudes to school and the world around them. This is reflected in pupils' attendance, which has become significantly better and is still improving over time."
Ofsted report, Maypole School (Sunbury), June 2024
"Staff enjoy working at the school. They relish the challenge each day brings. They are open and honest about what is great about the school and what could be better. They are dedicated to their work and pupils, parents and carers alike appreciate this."
