How will my child be kept safe during School trips?

Every school trip is risk assessed, and every child at Maypole has their own unique Student Support Plan, which assesses the risks that the individual pupil faces, and sets out the preventative measures that are necessary to keep the child safe, what environment is needed for them to learn most effectively, and the staffing and other measures that are required to keep each pupil safe at all times, both in the school and when on a trip.

So if 1:1 (or even 2:1) staffing is necessary to keep a child safe when going on a trip ... then that’s what we will provide.

"I enjoy talking to my staff. I can safely be honest … I appreciate you guys so much."

Student, on a Pathways to Employment Student, Jan 2026

"Thanks for always being there for me, even though I only met you (the staff member) this year, you really helped me when I was at my lowest points, and depressed. Wish I knew you ages ago."

Student, on a Pathways to Employment placement, Dec 2025

"Hey, you and your team are just immense! Thank you all for being there, walking with, waiting for and enabling (this boy) to feel seen and valued. Superstars!!"

Head of Youth Services, in a nearby Local Authority, Nov 2025

"You have achieved things with (my son) that in 3 years at his previous setting were not understood. He is now saying I like my school - something he never said before."
